The Streets in Tooting
If you like jazz or want to enjoy some live entertainment in a relaxing atmosphere, come along to The Streets in Tooting this weekend.
As part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, national and international jazz artists will bring music to a range of locations this Saturday and Sunday.
All events are free to attend, so everyone has the chance to see some top artists perform.
Headlining acts include UK-based jazz, soul and ethnic beatbox performer Randolph Matthews, the Brooklyn-born, Harlem-based vocalist, guitarist and band leader Allan Harris, and double bass phenomenon and YouTube sensation Adam Ben Ezra.
Other acts include the multi-award winning progressive brass band Perhaps Contraption, and Vimala Rowe and John Etheridge, who are a soulful vocal and guitar duo from the UK.
Musicians will be appearing in unusual locations across the area, including Wandsworth Oasis at Amen Corner, Graveney and Meadow, Tooting Market, The Trafalgar Arms and Broadway Market.
The high street itself will also play host to musical performances from local talent such as The Great Gustos, Fuzion +1 and Squelch Quartet.
Wandsworth Council’s arts and culture spokesman Cllr Jonathan Cook said: “In July Tooting burst into life as The Streets took over the town centre with incredible live performances. November’s programme looks every bit as ambitious and can’t be missed.”
The festival will also host events for children, including children’s art workshops at Tooting library with local artist Sam Haynes, where they’ll design festival banners inspired by jazz album covers of the 50s and 60s.
Jazz for Toddlers workshops will also take place on Saturday, giving the youngest music fans an opportunity to enjoy music making of their own.
Date: 19.11.2016 – 20.11.2016
